The Scotland cricket team are looking good to qualify for the Super 8s in the T20 World Cup 2024 as they sit at the second spot in Group B’s points table with five points.

Scotland’s Michael Jones is adamant that Scotland can make history and qualify for the next round of the T20 World Cup 2024.

Scotland’s first game of the T20 World Cup against England was first delayed then restricted to 10 overs per side and in the end was cancelled due to rain after just 10 overs of the game.

The Scottish men shone in those 10 overs as they scored 90 with Michael Jones and George Munsey scoring 45 and 41 respectively.

They then went on to win their next two games against Namibia by five wickets and Oman by 7 wickets.

Scotland are now going to face their toughest challenge of the T20 World Cup 2024 against Australia on June 15.

As quoted by BBC Sport, Jones stated, “England are obviously a very high-quality team and if they go out and win comfortably against Oman and Namibia then it may be the case that we have to put up a really, really close performance against Australia, or even win.

“It would be another upset in the cricketing world but we really believe in the quality we have in our team. But I think it will definitely be in our favour knowing the situation.”

Australia is bent on getting England out of the tournament as Josh Hazlewood stated in a press conference that, “If we can get them out of the tournament that's in our best interest, as well as probably everyone else's."

Jones also commented on Hazlewood’s remarks saying, "I was watching it (Hazlewood’s press conference) live and I was laughing. The Aussies are renowned for being extremely diligent and I’m certain they will come all guns blazing.”

Jones added that they want the result to come in any way it can come and the Scottish team just wants to get through.

“The rivalry between Australia and England is massive and, if Australia want to play it that way then happy days. Maybe let David Warner open the bowling or something. you want the result in any way that it can come. We just want to get through."

If Scotland manages to defeat Australia, then they will qualify for the Super 8s whereas Australia has won all three of their group games and have won all of them, easing their way into the next round of the T20 World Cup 2024.
